When Your Rank Drops
Anybody who relies on search engines for traffic – which will probably be every webmaster out there – has a general disorder. It is our obsession with our rankings. It only makes sense that this be so common. In all, those rankings IS our business. At least as far as supplying those prospects we so very much need.
It’s secure to say that all of us have awaken up to see our standings fall from page 1 to a position that can only be measured up to being signed up in the all general business relocation program. Which basically means you cannot be found , no where …. This would come as very , very bad news .
Something you should do if this happens is, and remember you may not be capable of fixing the problem quickly but, you will at the most be in a much well off position to begin to start and deal with it.
No need to panic or worry.
This is extremely important to keep in thought. Take it critically, but never loose composure. There are many answers why standings can drop. Sometimes it happens because one of Google’s well-known algorithm miss-haps or shake-ups. This might be a brief shift that will see your rankings restored in short order. The key at this point is to stay clear of the temptation to do something that will only bring your site down in the long run , its long-term rankings & your business itself.
Many people will go out on a limb and work extra hard and make large-grade changes in their site. By trying to bring it in context with what they assume the search engines want right this second , right now. This can in fact hurt their ranking in the search engines as they change the structure and layout of their site. It will throw off the search engine bots and gives an impression of uncertainty, a deficient order of consistency in the site. That’s no good for standings. So take this into play, never worry never stress and never panic.
Give some thought what have you changed recently?
From time to time your standings drop because of something you did. For instance, I have seen rankings plummet because people have messed up the code on some redirects . Have you added some new pages lately, maybe new articles on that last page you have been working on? Double check and see to it that the links in them, and to them, are routed correctly. When you read the URL redirect wrong you are pointing the search engines to wrong 404 pages and they do not like this.
There are many things that could make the standings to fall. bare in thought that you should oversee changes you have completed up to 3 weeks prior, just for a precaution.. Search engine bots differ in how often they come by your site, so they may be acting out on a modification that is old news to you, but very new to them.
Keep working hard!
It’s tempting to turn to the dark side of SEO, become a Black Hat when you see your rankings drop. In particular when you see a powerless site, or a totally unrelated one, surpass yours. It has happened before and so many have been there.
But you know what the right choice is, even if it’s hard to refuse to go along with doing a small amount of cloaking. What you must do is strive to keep building a great site: adding relevant, targeted content, working on your site structure so that all content can be found & indexed by the search engines, working on links to your site. A little boring? Yes, sometimes. But it’s the best choice, especially for those of you looking to be in big business for the long-run.
Bare in mind these 3 tactics and guided steps next time you see rankings slip. It’s okay to be a just a little upset or mad. It’s also okay to be taken aback. It’s even okay to be a little annoyed. Vent, and then get back to work, success awaits you.
